John Waters saved my life!
Not literally, of course, although perhaps literarily: his book Carsick reawakened a sense of purpose and adventure in me that I had been letting atrophy through neglect. In my long career as a COBOL computer programmer I spent too many years spent digging through old, brittle computer code for stifling bureaucracies, I suppose, and lost my sense of amazement at this crazy circus we call life.
Sometimes the best expression of responsibility is to behave irresponsibly.
The second huge way this book was a blessing from God was that it rescued me from my feeble attempts to sell crap from Clickbank and other bottom dwelling "affiliate marketplaces". Fortunately, I suppose, (although I'm not proud or moral enough to refuse the money), I have yet to sell anything from Clickbank or its imitators, so I'm not guilty of being a snake-oil salesman, (though I certainly tried.) If you do have the personality that aligns with such online sales, you should give Clickbank University a shot, although perhaps you may make even more money selling timeshares.
I believe it best suits my nature to pursue other interests, such as limiting myself to affiliate links on Amazon, and investing in farms in the Philippines.
Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend this book, and will be eagerly consuming his other books. This is despite being a confirmed heterosexual who finds most things homosexual to be "icky". But give Mr. Waters credit for being able to write several gay sexual escapades that this member of a Bible thumping family found highly entertaining.
